Why One Good Outfit Changes Everything

Do you have an outfit, an article of clothing, or a piece that you keep going back to?

Maybe it’s the one you almost didn’t buy, or almost didn’t pack for that trip, or wear to that event… and then it ends up being the one you feel the best in.

That actually just happened to me this weekend.

I was heading to Vegas for a friend’s birthday and had already packed. I had another dress planned. But right as we were leaving, I realized I had forgotten something and ran back inside. And for whatever reason, this outfit I purchased and wore a couple of years ago popped into my head.

A cult gaia piece that I love. It’s one of those statement items you don’t wear all the time, but when you do, it’s a moment!

So I grabbed it. I ended up wearing that instead of the original dress I brought, and never wanted to take it off.

I felt completely myself in it. Comfortable, confident, a little more elevated. And it reminded me of something I already knew but isn’t always top of mind, even for me.

The pieces that really work for you don’t go anywhere.

You come back to them, again and again. And those are worth having for so many reasons.

You stand a little differently in it.

You speak a little more clearly.

You don’t second guess as much.

And then someone says something.

Or looks at you a certain way.

Or you catch your own reflection and think… “oh, this is working for me” and “I feel really good”.

Then suddenly, it’s not just an outfit anymore.

This is something I see with my clients all the time.

There’s a loop that happens when you get dressed. Not only externally, but internally too.

And once you start to notice it, you can’t unsee it.

This is what I think of as a feedback loop.

What you wear affects how you feel.

How you feel affects how you show up.

And how you show up shapes how you’re received.

And then it reinforces itself.

What happens before you even leave the house

You put something on that feels like you.

It’s not trendy per se, nor is it forced.

It’s just, right.

And things shift a little.

You feel more like yourself.

More grounded.

More clear.

You’re not trying as hard.

There’s less adjusting. Less overthinking.

You move through your morning, therefor your day, differently.

That’s not an accident.

Then the world responds

People notice.

Not always in an obvious way, but in energy.

You’re received differently. As you are presenting yourself more confidently.

You’re spoken to differently.

Seen differently.

And that reinforces what you already felt.

So you wear it again.

And again.

Not because you don’t have anything else, but because it works.

You start wearing it in different ways.

If we have worked together, you know I am a big believer in the power of repetition.

When it actually clicks

My clients almost always say some version of this in our sessions…

Wow, I’ve had this for years and have never worn it like this before.”

Or

I would never have thought to put this together like that.

And yet, it feels totally like them.

It’s not the piece alone. It’s what happens when it finally. Comes. Together.

This is the moment I’m always trying to get my clients to.

When what you’re wearing and how you feel finally match.

There’s no friction.

No pulling at something all day.

No questioning if it’s “right.”

Just ease. And from there, everything else can become a little easier too.

Getting dressed feels quicker.

Shopping becomes more intentional.

You stop buying things you don’t need.

You start trusting yourself more.

And when it doesn’t

This matters just as much.

Because most women I work with aren’t starting from nothing.

They have pieces.

But something is off.

The fit isn’t quite right.

The proportions feel strange.

It doesn’t reflect who they are anymore. They are traveling through what I call, a Time Capsule Wardrobe.

Or it’s something they feel like they should wear.

And you can feel it immediately.

You nip and tuck at it all day.

You hesitate.

You shrink a little.

That becomes a loop too.

And over time, it builds.

And over time, that can turn into “I don’t even care what I look like,” which is rarely true.

This is why I care about this work

It’s not about having more clothes.

Most women don’t need more clothes. They need better.

It’s about having the right clothes for you, and knowing how to find them.

The ones that support you.

The ones that feel aligned.

The ones you don’t have to think about once they’re on.

And the ones you can play and have fun with!

Because once you have even a few of those pieces, things do begin to change..

You stop starting from zero every morning.

You stop second guessing.

You stop buying things that almost work.

You build from what does.

You become more connected to who you are and who you are becoming.

You most likely don’t need a whole new wardrobe.

You need a few things that actually work.

And the awareness to notice when they do.

If you’ve been feeling stuck in what you’re wearing, or like nothing quite comes together the way you want it to, this is exactly the kind of work I do with my clients.

You can book a quick chat to connect and talk through where you’re at anytime.

Or feel free to reach out directly.

And, I’d love to stay connected via social and hear your thoughts on personal style.
